ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Paro & Welcome Dinner

Arrive at Paro International Airport, where a representative will meet you. Transfer to your hotel and check-in. After lunch, visit Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower now housing the National Museum.Explore Paro Rimpung Dzong, built in 1646, followed by a short walk to a traditional cantilevered bridge. Enjoy a welcome dinner in a central 4-star hotel.

Day 2: Excursion to Tiger’s Nest Monastery & Drive to Thimphu

After breakfast, visit the ruins of Drukgyal Dzong and enjoy stunning views of Mt. Jhomolhari. Explore Kichu Lhakhang, a historic gem and one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Take a 2-hour hike to the viewpoint of Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, perched on a cliff. Stop for lunch at the Taktsang Jakhang cafeteria with views of the monastery. In the evening, drive to Thimphu, with a stop at Tamchog Monastery on the way.

Day 3: Explore Thimphu’s Cultural Sites

Start the day with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, built in memory of King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Visit Sangaygang viewpoint for views of the Tallest Buddha Statue and explore Takin Preserve.Visit Dupthop Lhakhang, one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan, and Changangkha Lhakhang. After lunch, take an excursion to Cheri Monastery, Bhutan’s first monastic body. Visit Tashichho Dzong, home to Bhutan’s government and Central Monastic Body.

– End the day with a visit to the Handicrafts Emporium and shopping in Thimphu.

Day 4: Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass

After breakfast, drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass for breathtaking views of the Higher Himalayas (weather permitting). Visit Chime Lhakhang, known as the “Temple of Fertility,” built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley.

After lunch, explore the grand Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers.

Day 5: Punakha to Gangtey & Phobjikha Valley

Drive to Gangtey, stopping for sightseeing in the Wangdiphodrang valley. Visit Gangtey Gompa, a Nyingmapa monastery built in 1613. After lunch, explore the scenic Phobjikha Valley, famous for the Black-Necked Cranes that migrate here in winter. Return to Wangdiphodrang for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Return to Thimphu

After breakfast, drive back to Thimphu.

After lunch, visit the Folk Heritage Museum and spend the rest of the day at leisure for shopping and photography in Thimphu.

Day 7: Departure from Paro

Early morning transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure flight.
