Following the welcome, you’ll travel to Sigiriya. An optional visit to the ancient city ruins of Anuradhapura is available en route. Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s ancient capital from the 5th century, is home to the oldest Buddhist shrines, impressive dagabas (relic chambers), and the Sri Maha Bodhi tree, which is over 2000 years old. Afterward, check in at a beautiful nature resort located near the UNESCO World Heritage site, Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

Day 2: Sigiriya and Kandy

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel, overlooking the main pool with spectacular mountain views. In the morning, visit the Polonnaruwa Ancient City with your guide, exploring the historical significance of King Parakramabahu’s reign. Afterward, embark on an afternoon jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, where you can spot wild elephants and other wildlife. After an exhilarating day, enjoy a restful night at the Kings Pavilion hotel in Kandy.

Day 3: Kandy and Wellawaya

Awake to the sweet sounds of nature and enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Engage in a panoramic tour of Kandy, visiting the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, where you can witness a pooja ceremony and experience the rich Buddhist culture. If time permits, consider visiting the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, home to over 5000 species of trees and plants. Afterward, check out from the hotel and head to the lesser-known area of Wellawaya, passing through lush tea plantations. You may have the opportunity to visit a working tea factory if restrictions allow. Check in to your serene resort at Jetwing Kaduruketha, designed to resemble a traditional village amidst stunning landscapes.

Day 4: Wellawaya

After a fulfilling breakfast, enjoy a guided walk along the paddy trails surrounding Kaduruketha, led by a resident naturalist. Visit the organic gardens of the resort, where you’ll pick fresh vegetables for a cooking demonstration with the head chef, followed by an authentic Sri Lankan lunch. In the afternoon, trek to the beautiful ElleWala Waterfall, accessible by bicycles, provided that restrictions permit.

Day 5: Tangalle via Udawalawe

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and travel to Tangalle, stopping at the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home along the way.
