ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Your journey commences in Kathmandu, the lively and culturally rich capital of Nepal. After your arrival, you have the evening free to relax or explore the bustling Thamel district, known for its shops, restaurants, and lively atmosphere.

Day 2: Flight to Paro

Today, you will take a flight to Paro. If the weather is clear, enjoy stunning aerial views of the eastern Himalayas, including peaks like Everest and Kanchenjunga. Upon arrival, you will complete visa formalities before transferring to your hotel. The afternoon includes a visit to Paro Dzong, a remarkable fortress with stunning architecture, and the national museum located in the old watchtower, Ta Dzong.

Day 3: Hike to Taktsang Monastery

Prepare for a warm-up hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), perched on a cliff high above Paro Valley. After a short drive to the trailhead, hike approximately 1.5 hours to reach a viewpoint for classic views of the monastery. If you’re feeling adventurous, continue another 45 minutes to reach the monastery itself. This hike is perfect for acclimatization and allows you to explore Paro town in the afternoon.

Day 4: Start of Trek

Today marks the start of your trek. After breakfast, a short drive takes you to the starting point at an altitude of about 8,595 ft (2,620 m). The first day involves an uphill trek to Jele La (11,645 ft/3,550 m). Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Paro Valley and explore a ruined shepherd hut with a small Bon shrine if you wish.

Day 5: Jele Dzong to Rawna

After a hearty breakfast, trek to Jele Dzong and, if possible, explore the 14th-century dzong. The trail continues through dense rhododendron forests, offering chances to spot colorful wildlife. Enjoy lunch in a forest clearing before continuing to your camp at Rawna.

Day 6: Trek to Jimi Lang Tscho

This day presents the hardest walk of the trek as you climb steeply through rocky terrain to reach a col marked with prayer flags. After taking in spectacular mountain views, you’ll descend to the shores of Jimi Lang Tscho, renowned for its trout.

Day 7: Trek to Labana

Another long day of trekking awaits as you ascend to Janye Tscho Lake and continue climbing to the highest point of the trek, a col at 13,615 ft (4,150 m). Enjoy the undulating trail and the beautiful mountain scenery on your way to Labana.

Day 8: Labana Pass to Thimphu

The trail climbs gradually to Labana Pass (13,895 ft/4,235 m), offering breathtaking views of the Bhutanese Himalaya. From the top, descend towards Thimphu, stopping for lunch at Phajoding Monastery before reaching your hotel in the capital.

Day 9: Explore Thimphu

Spend the day exploring Thimphu’s significant cultural sites, including the Memorial Chorten and Buddha Point. Your leader will guide you through various museums, art schools, and local markets, depending on the opening times.

Day 10: Festival Day (if applicable)

For those on festival departures, immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of a local festival, where you can witness colorful masked dances and traditional music performances that celebrate Bhutanese culture.

Day 11: Return to Kathmandu

Today, fly back to Kathmandu, where you have the rest of the day free to explore the city. Consider visiting iconic sites like Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, or Boudhanath, or shop for souvenirs in the bustling Thamel district.

Day 12: Departure from Kathmandu

The trip concludes after breakfast. If you wish to extend your stay in Kathmandu, consult with your sales representative about additional options for exploration.
