ITINERARY

Day 1: Phnom Penh Arrival

Arrive in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s bustling capital, where your adventure begins. After settling in, meet your group and guide at a welcome meeting at 6 pm. If you arrive early, explore the lively riverside city, set at the confluence of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers. You may choose to take a walk along the waterfront, enjoy street food, or visit a rooftop bar for panoramic views of the city.

Day 2: Cycling through Mekong Island

Start the day with a scenic bike ride across the Mekong River, where you’ll explore an island famous for silk weaving and agriculture. Cycle through tranquil villages, rice paddies, and fruit orchards, and witness local life firsthand. After returning to Phnom Penh, you have a free afternoon to visit the sobering Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum or the Royal Palace complex, or simply explore the city’s vibrant streets.

Day 3: Journey to Kratie and Mekong Island Homestay

Travel to Kratie, a riverside town along the Mekong, stopping by the town of Skuon for a unique treat – fried spiders! From Kratie, board a boat to the small island of Koh Trong, home to about 280 families. Immerse yourself in local life with a traditional Khmer dinner and enjoy a relaxing evening in a hammock at your homestay.

Day 4: Koh Trong Exploration and Dolphin Spotting

Begin your day with a guided walk around Koh Trong, learning about the island’s dedication to reforestation. You’ll even have the chance to plant a tree yourself. After bidding farewell to your hosts, visit the town of Kratie before heading to Stung Treng. On the way, enjoy a boat excursion at Kampi Creek, where you might spot the rare Irrawaddy dolphins. End the day with a walking tour of Stung Treng.

Day 5: Kayaking and Hiking in Stung Treng

Start early for a day of adventure, traveling by boat to the stunning Sopheakmit Waterfall at the Cambodia-Laos border. After a hike through the jungle and lunch with a view, continue exploring the Mekong River, paddling by kayak through the flooded forests near the village of Osvay. This region is home to an abundance of bird species and beautiful natural scenery. Return to Stung Treng by minibus for the night.

Day 6: Siem Reap Arrival and Orientation

Travel to Siem Reap, the gateway to the famous Angkor temple complex. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and join a tuk-tuk ride for a guided orientation walk around the city. Siem Reap is a lively town filled with markets, cafes, and shops, where you can spend your evening exploring at your own pace.

Explore ancient temples, including Angkor Wat, Bayon, and the jungle-covered Ta Prohm, while learning about Cambodia’s rich Khmer history. After a full day of temple exploration, return to Siem Reap and enjoy a free evening – perhaps catching a performance of the Phare Cambodian Circus.

Day 8: Siem Reap Departure

Your adventure comes to an end today, and you’re free to depart at any time. If you have extra time in Siem Reap, you can arrange additional activities such as a zip-lining adventure, a Khmer cooking class, or simply relax by the pool before you leave.
