The Gokyo Valley trek starts from Lukla Airport, one of the most picturesque airports in the Himalayas. Following the Dudh Kosi River, trekkers will traverse through the charming Sherpa villages of Namche Bazaar and Khumjung. Unlike the popular Everest Base Camp trek, this route is less frequented, providing an opportunity to enjoy unspoiled nature and tranquil trekking trails. One of the trek's standout days is the ascent to Gokyo Ri at an altitude of 5,360 meters, which offers arguably the best viewpoints in all of Nepal, showcasing the Ngozumpa Glacier and four of the world’s tallest peaks: Mt. ITINERARY

Day 1: Lukla to Phakding (3 hours)

The adventure begins with a flight to Lukla, where you will start your trek with a gentle ascent along the left bank of the Dudh Kosi River. The trail offers stunning views of Nupla Peak (5885m) across the river, as well as the Kongde Ridge. After passing by a Mani wall, the route leads to Phakding, where you will settle in for the night at a tea house lodge. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided during your stay.

Day 2: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (6 hours)

On this day, you will trek to Namche Bazaar, crossing high suspension bridges and entering the Sagarmatha National Park. A steep ascent brings you to Namche, where, if the weather permits, you will catch your first glimpse of Mt. Everest. The journey also offers views of Kusum Kangaru, Thamserku, and other majestic peaks. You will visit local monasteries along the way before arriving at your hotel for the night, where you will be served breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar (3 hours)

This day is dedicated to acclimatization, which is crucial before continuing your trek to higher altitudes. Spend your time exploring Namche Bazaar, visiting the Sherpa museum, and taking in the sights and sounds of the local Saturday market. This rest day helps your body adjust to the altitude, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable trekking experience. Meals will be provided.

Day 4: Namche Bazaar to Dole (5 hours)

From Namche, the trek heads toward Khumjung, where you can visit a local gompa. The trail ascends to a large chorten on a ridge that offers sweeping views. As you continue, the path leads you through Phortse Tenga, and finally to Dole, where you’ll spend the night in a tea house lodge. Expect a hearty breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 5: Dole to Machhermo (5 hours)

On the route to Machhermo, you will steadily climb along the valley’s side, witnessing the beauty of Cho Oyu and the peaks of Kantega and Thamserku. This day is relatively short, allowing you to arrive in time for lunch at Machhermo, where you will stay overnight in a tea house lodge. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 6: Machhermo to Gokyo (5 hours)

Today’s trek leads you toward the stunning lakes of Gokyo. The scenic path takes you to Pangka, followed by a descent to the river flowing from the Ngozumpa Glacier. After a steep ascent into the glacier’s valley, you will arrive at the first of the holy lakes. Continuing on, you will reach Dudh Pokhari and finally the settlement of Gokyo, where you will spend the night in a tea house lodge. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 7: Gokyo Exploration (4 hours)

Gokyo serves as a hub for Sherpa lodges catering to trekkers. You have the option to explore the Fourth and Fifth Lakes, immersing yourself in the breathtaking scenery and tranquility of the area. Take your time to enjoy the views and perhaps take some photographs of the majestic landscape. You will stay overnight in Gokyo with all meals provided.

Day 8: Gokyo to Renjo La Pass to Marlung (6 hours)

An early start takes you to Renjo La Pass, where you will be rewarded with sweeping vistas of Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse, and Taboche. After enjoying the breathtaking views, you will descend into the valley, passing Angladumba Tsho and Relama Tsho, before reaching Marlung for the night. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

Day 9: Marlung to Namche Bazaar (6 hours)

Following the ancient Tibetan trading route, you will trek from Marlung to Thame, crossing the Bhote Koshi River and descending to Taranga. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of the mountains, including Thamserku and Kantega. After passing through the beautiful village of Thamo, you will arrive back in Namche for your overnight stay. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 10: Namche to Lukla (6 hours)

On the final day of the trek, you will descend from Namche back to Lukla, navigating steep paths and crossing the bridge over the Dudh Kosi River. As you approach the airport, enjoy the dramatic scenery one last time before settling in at your lodge for the night. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided, and the day can also be spent exploring Lukla or relaxing before your flight.
