ITINERARY

Day 1: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (4 hours)

Your adventure begins with an early morning transfer to the airport for a short but scenic 35-minute flight to Lukla, a small airstrip nestled in the Himalayan foothills. As the plane glides over terraced hills and snow-capped peaks, the excitement builds. Upon landing, you start your trek with a 3-hour walk along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River. With a few ups and downs, you reach the peaceful village of Phakding, where you will stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 2: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (5-6 hours)

After breakfast, continue trekking along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing the river multiple times on suspension bridges adorned with prayer flags. As you enter Sagarmatha National Park, the trail becomes steeper and more challenging, but the stunning views of the Himalayas and the vibrant local culture make it worthwhile. A steep ascent brings you to Namche Bazaar, the bustling gateway to the Everest region. Stay overnight at a guesthouse in Namche.

Day 3: Acclimatization and Exploration in Namche Bazaar

Today is a rest and acclimatization day to adjust to the higher altitude. Namche Bazaar is a lively village filled with shops, vendors, and restaurants. Early risers can hike up to a viewpoint above town for a breathtaking Himalayan sunrise with clear views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Afterward, visit the Sherpa Museum to learn about the traditional Sherpa lifestyle and enjoy a photography exhibit. Stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 4: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Phortse (4 hours)

Leave Namche Bazaar behind and trek towards Phortse. Climbing up Khumjung Hill, you descend into the Dudh Koshi Valley, passing through the beautiful village of Mohang, known as the birthplace of the reincarnated Lama of the Rongbuk Monastery in Tibet. The trail leads through a series of switchbacks, offering panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Stay overnight at a guesthouse in Phortse.

Day 5: Trek from Phortse to Dole (4 hours)

Today’s trek takes you through rhododendron forests as the trail ascends steeply out of the valley. Stay overnight at a guesthouse in Dole.

Day 6: Trek from Dole to Machhermo (4 hours)

Continue trekking uphill, leaving behind the rhododendron forests as the landscape becomes more rugged. The final stretch takes you to Gokyo, where the third of Gokyo’s sacred lakes greets you. Stay overnight at a guesthouse in Gokyo, surrounded by glacial lakes and snow-capped mountains.

Day 8: Early Morning Ascent to Gokyo Ri (5,463m) and Exploration

Wake up early for a hike to Gokyo Ri (5,463m), the highest point of the trek. The climb is strenuous but rewards you with incredible panoramic views of Everest, Cho Oyu, and other surrounding peaks.
