ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Negombo

Ayubowan! Welcome to Sri Lanka. Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be greeted by an Intrepid representative and transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Settle in and relax before meeting your tour leader and group for a welcome dinner at 6 pm. Enjoy traditional Sri Lankan cuisine with complementary cocktails, a perfect introduction to the bold and rich flavors of the country.

Day 2: Negombo to Habarana via Ridi Vihara Shrine

Today, drive inland towards Habarana, stopping en route at the ancient Ridi Vihara Buddhist cave temple, dating back to the second century BC. Discover ancient traditions like palm leaf writing and wood carving, and admire the Buddha statues within the caves. After a local lunch, continue to Habarana, your base for the next three nights. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore or relax.

Day 3: Sigiriya Lion Rock and Pottery Experience

Start the day with a climb to the top of Sigiriya’s Lion Rock Fortress, one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks. Day 5: Habarana to Kandy via Matale

Day 6: Ambagasthenna Village and Tea Plantation Visit

After breakfast, journey to Ambagasthenna village for an immersive tour led by Mr. Thilina, a local hotel and tea plantation owner. Walk through tea fields and learn about sustainable farming practices. Enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal with Mr. Thilina’s family, followed by sunset drinks with a stunning view of the landscape.

Day 7: Train to Nuwara Eliya

Board a scenic morning train to Nuwara Eliya, nestled in the heart of tea country at 1,800 meters above sea level. Take an orientation walk around Gregory Lake, and check into the historic Grand Hotel, your Feature Stay for the night. Enjoy a traditional high tea and marvel at the hotel’s sustainability efforts, including its zero-waste practices.

Day 8: Nuwara Eliya to Colombo via Labukelle

Depart Nuwara Eliya and visit a tea plantation and factory in Labukelle to learn about Sri Lanka’s famed tea production. Upon arrival in Colombo, your guide will lead an orientation walk, showcasing the city’s historic parliament building, the National Museum, and the best spots for souvenir shopping. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with your group at the Ceylon Curry Club, celebrating Sri Lankan cuisine.

Day 9: Farewell and Departure from Colombo
