ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Negombo

Arrive at any time and settle into your accommodation at the Sea Horse Hotel (or similar). No activities are planned for the day, allowing you to relax. In the evening, attend a welcome meeting to meet your CEO (Chief Experience Officer) and group. This is your first chance to connect with fellow travelers and get an overview of the tour.

Day 2: Negombo to Kandy via Spice Plantation

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Kandy, stopping at a spice plantation en route. Learn about the variety of spices Sri Lanka is known for and enjoy lunch at the Sthree Craft Shop and Café, a G Adventures-supported local initiative. Upon reaching Kandy, visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth, a significant religious site for Buddhists.

Day 3: Free Day in Kandy

Spend the day exploring Kandy at your leisure. You can choose to visit the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens, home to a wide variety of orchids and tropical plants, or indulge in a traditional Ayurvedic treatment. Alternatively, explore the town of Kandy, famous for its cultural heritage and vibrant markets.

Day 4: Journey from Kandy to Ella via Nuwara Eliya

Travel by private vehicle to Nuwara Eliya, known as “Little England” for its colonial architecture and cool climate. After some free time to explore the town, continue your journey to the Ella region. Stay at the G Adventures-supported AMBA Estate, an organic tea plantation that promotes economic growth in the local community by paying fair wages and sharing profits.

Day 5: Tea Plantation Tour & Ella Exploration

Begin the day with a tour of the AMBA Estate, learning about Sri Lanka’s famous tea production and tasting freshly brewed tea. Enjoy free time in the afternoon to relax amidst the scenic views or opt to hike to Ella Rock for breathtaking views. In the evening, take part in a cooking demonstration where you’ll learn how to prepare classic Sri Lankan dishes.

Day 6: Ella to Udawalawe National Park

After breakfast, leave AMBA Estate and head to Udawalawe National Park. In the afternoon, enjoy a thrilling safari through the park, home to elephants, crocodiles, and a wide range of bird species. Capture the beauty of Sri Lanka’s wildlife in its natural habitat during this unforgettable experience.

Day 7: Udawalawe to Galle and Unawatuna

After breakfast, transfer from Udawalawe to the coastal city of Galle. Explore the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and wander through the charming streets lined with colonial buildings. Later, continue to Unawatuna, a popular beach destination on Sri Lanka’s southern coast.

Day 8: Departure from Unawatuna

Enjoy your final breakfast before departing at any time. This marks the end of your incredible journey through Sri Lanka’s cultural and natural wonders. If you wish, extend your stay in Unawatuna for some beach relaxation.
