ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Wattala

Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, travelers will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel in Wattala, a coastal suburb of Colombo. The rest of the day is free to relax and unwind, preparing for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Sigiriya Rock Fortress

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Sigiriya, passing lush landscapes of coconut palms and banana plantations. In the afternoon, visit the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an impressive 5th-century stronghold. The climb up Lion Rock rewards you with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and fascinating historical insights. The day ends with relaxation back at the hotel.

Day 3: Polonnaruwa & Minneriya National Park

Start the day with a visit to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, where you’ll enjoy a cycle tour of the well-preserved ruins and Buddhist relics. After a traditional Sri Lankan lunch in a rural village, head to Minneriya National Park for an exciting 4×4 safari, where you may witness the famous elephant “Gathering” at the reservoir.

Day 4: Dambulla Cave Temple & Hiriwaduna Village

In the morning, visit the magnificent Dambulla Cave Temple, known for its ancient Buddhist murals and statues. Afterwards, explore the Hiriwaduna village where you’ll immerse yourself in rural life, joining locals in daily activities such as fishing and farming. The day ends with leisure time back at the hotel.

Day 5: Kandy & Spice Gardens

Depart for Kandy, stopping en route to visit a spice garden near Matale. Here, you’ll learn about Sri Lanka’s spice cultivation and have the chance to buy fresh spices. Upon reaching Kandy, enjoy a relaxing afternoon exploring the town and its lake.

Day 6: Kandy Exploration & Temple of the Tooth

Spend the morning visiting the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden, known for its orchid collection and diverse plant species. In the afternoon, explore Kandy’s Temple of the Tooth, a significant religious site housing a relic of the Buddha’s tooth. Later, enjoy scenic views of the city and the option to attend a Kandyan dance performance in the evening.

Day 7: Scenic Train Ride to Nuwara Eliya

Take a scenic train journey into the misty tea hills, arriving in Nuwara Eliya, also known as “Little England.” Visit a tea plantation to experience the process of tea production and explore the charming Colonial-era town, known for its picturesque landscapes and cool climate.

Day 8: Kitulgala & Colombo

Depart for Kitulgala, famous for its scenic landscapes and the filming of “The Bridge on the River Kwai.” Here, you’ll have the option to go white-water rafting on the Kelani River before continuing to Colombo for your final overnight stay.

Day 9: Departure

After breakfast, the tour concludes in Colombo. If you’d like to extend your stay, consider booking a beach holiday in Weligama or Hikkaduwa, or a trip to the Maldives for some post-tour relaxation.
